The Senior QA Technologist is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the QA Lab at IMT Elemental. Specific duties and responsibilities are assigned by the QA Manager and/or General Manager, as required. The Senior QA Technologist’s duties include overseeing the technical aspects of product and/or process development projects at IMT Elemental. The Senior QA Technologist interfaces with other Managers (Production, Maintenance, Sales) as required to support activities within IMT Elemental.

Responsibilities

  • Advises the Plant Manager regarding the timeliness of the inspection and document preparation that may be required
  • Coordinates the sampling as required by the furnace charge report or the process standard
  • Prepares and evaluates the samples and generates the appropriate lad reports and release notes as required
  • Reviews and prepares the relevant documentation, furnace charges, lab reports, release notes, etc.. Prior to release of product and shipping
  • Revises inspection documents as required to include all relevant information
  • Conducts metallurgical investigations (Chemical Analysis, microstructure studies, hardness verifications, etc.) under the direction of the QA Manager
  • Conduct capability studies on new processes and systems as set up by the initial sample runs/PPAP requirements.
  • Advise the Quality Assurance Manager of any nonconforming products, processes or measuring instruments.
  • Coordinate calibrations of key Measurement tools within the Lab and Shop floor.
  • Maintain and operates the measuring and testing equipment.
  • Assist in the training of Lab and Production personnel
  • Assist in the development of Process Standards and the inspection plans
  • Assist in Scheduling, Evaluating and preparing reports for Metallurgical investigations
  • Any other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by Senior Management

Requirements:

  • Engineering Technologist diploma or equivalent
  • Timely and accurate testing and reporting
  • Quality and completion of the testing documents and certification
  • Continuous follow-up of documentation
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and with frequent interruptions
  • Close attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines as required
  • Computer literacy – Proficient in Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to read/understand blueprints
  • Knowledge of quality assurance terminology and procedures
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 quality standards
