The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for leading the Health & Safety (H&S) function at IMT Precision, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. This role oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of workplace safety programs, risk assessments, compliance with health and safety legislation, and injury prevention initiatives. Additionally, the Health and Safety Manager manages workplace injury claims, accommodations, and regulatory reporting while fostering a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization. With a hands-on leadership approach, this role provides expert guidance to management, employees, and the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) to ensure adherence to safety regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety management system, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Conduct workplace risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Oversee workplace safety programs, including injury prevention, ergonomics, hazardous materials handling, and emergency preparedness.
- Manage workplace injury claims, accommodations, and return-to-work programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance to the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and management teams on safety best practices, compliance, and injury prevention strategies.
- Serve as the designated recipient for workplace harassment and violence occurrences, facilitating resolution processes.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and supervisors to promote awareness and compliance.
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain safety records, generate reports, and liaise with regulatory agencies as required.
- Act as the company representative during health and safety inspections, audits, and investigations.
- Foster a proactive safety culture by promoting engagement and accountability at all levels of the organization.
- Manage WSIB claims and the reporting of premiums
Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in health and safety management, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
- Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and workplace safety inspections.
- Proven ability to develop and implement workplace safety programs and emergency preparedness initiatives.
- Experience managing disability and workers’ compensation claims, accommodations, and return-to-work programs.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with management teams, employees, and regulatory bodies.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CRSP, CHSC) is an asset.
